More on Intel and ARM: Nomura notes that in spite of the presence of ARM-based Windows 8 models, Intel/AMD hardware still dominates at Computex (ed: ARM systems require more R&D work, and OEM experience at this point is limited). However, Williams Financial is worried the ~$1,000 price points of many Intel-based ultrabooks are hurting consumer and OEM interest, and one OEM told Topeka Capital "ultrabook programs are running a bit below expectations." what Ultrabook programs? The ones that were using up Sandy Bridges? I'm a customer as soon as I can get my hands on an Ivy Bridge Ultrabook with 4000 graphics.
Worried about $1000 Ultrabooks? I spent over $1000 for a new iPad for my wife. She almost never uses it. I tried for a couple days and was so frustrated that I damn near threw it off the deck.

Tack on paying the phone company for iPad/tablet service wherever you go and you easily end up paying over 1000$ whether you use it on the go or not.

I'm a gamer so I primarily use a beefy desktop for my daily use, at work I have a laptop which is pretty useful when I'm on vacation or away from home... but I'm still considering an ultrabook for the house.
