Banks and other financials backing away from the mortgage business are leaving more room for servicers like Ocwen (OCN) and Nationstar (NSM) to grow their franchises. The latest target are the assets of ResCap, where several bidders are expected to show up to make a play for what's left of the business.

    Especially when the servicers are getting tax-advantaged entities to finance the MSR purchases. OCN is working with HLSS (a PFIC); Nationstar is working with NCT (a REIT).
