FedEx (FDX) is forecasting its busiest holiday shipping day to be about 8% busier. A record 13M shipments should move on Dec. 14, up from 12M last Dec. 15 - a stronger gain than last year's 6% Y/Y increase. The company expects to hire 14,000 seasonal workers.

Finally, actual, solid, facts instead of goofy government statistics.

    Thank you FDX.

You call a forecast a fact?

this is a forecast for 1 day NOT the entire holiday season... expect weakness on the days prior to eliminate the increase overall

UPS Chief Executive Officer Scott Davis said in a Nov. 6 interview.

“We’ve talked to a lot of customers over the last couple months and have got a mixed bag,” Davis said. “We certainly don’t think it’s going to be a robust season. We feel OK about what we’re seeing for the holiday season.”

Procrastination among consumers sending gifts and a shrinking window for peak shipping demand are making it harder to forecast when deliveries will crest, Davis said.

“Peak used to be four or five weeks and now it’s seven or eight days because it’s getting more compressed,” Davis said.

LOL, I was talking about the intention to hire 14000 temp workers, vs the science fiction from the BLS. Whether or not they have a busy day is not what I was focusing on.

Sorry for the vague language. It has been a hard day.
