  • WSJ sources say Palantir Technologies (NYSE:PLTR) is helping the U.S. government establish a system to manufacture, distribute, and administer coronavirus vaccines.
  • The data mining company's Tiberius software would help the government manage vaccine data and identify high areas of distribution need and potential issues, according to anonymous health officials and materials viewed by the publication.
  • Palantir was already helping the federal government to track coronavirus-related hospitalizations.
  • Tiberius will collect data from federal agencies, local governments, drug companies, and distributors to help health officials "integrate a wide range of demographic, employment and public health data sets to identify the location of priority population."
  • A Department of Health and Human Services spokeswoman says Tiberius uses Palantir tech and the controversial company is on as a subcontractor. The spokeswoman also said no personally identifiable information would be entered into the system.
  • PLTR shares are up 2.3% pre-market to $9.41.
