Facebook (FB) plans to launch an ad bidding system that delivers ads based on user activity on third-party sites. The move risks upsetting privacy advocates, especially since users can only opt out an advertiser-by-advertiser basis. However, the ads could also improve both Facebook's low ad click rate, and the average price it charges for those clicks. (yesterday)

    This type of thing is already going on. Both my wife and I notice that whatever we look up on line, the ads follow us around for weeks.
