FDIC chief Sheila Bair says she may ask lenders to cut principal payments on mortgages they get from seized banks, rather than cutting interest or deferring principal. Separately, Bair advised caution on allowing TARP repayments too quickly, warning there won't be more government support for big financial firms going forward.

    The big banks are STILL too big to fail, and don't expect the FDIC to handle them.

    Oh, yeah, I believe that. Our govt is propping up and will continue to prop up any industry/company that's has its hooks in white house.

    Translation:

     

    The country has rejected the idea of direct government subsidies for people who want to live beyond their means. So we will backdoor the subsidize where the vote doesn't go through Congress.
