The newly-released annual survey from J.D. Power on customer satisfaction in the auto industry shows Ford (F +0.8%) and Chrysler (FIATY.PK) slipping lower with their brands, while Toyota's (TM +0.4%) Lexus retains its top ranking. Foreign names largely dominated the list, with Jaguar (TTM +1.9%), Porsche (POAHY.PK), Cadillac (GM -1.9%), and Honda (HMC -0.1%) all showing strong. The poor result for Ford seems to emanate from its MyFord Touch entertainment system, which presented a myriad of issues for confused owners.

Ford has to dump Microsoft if it wants the MyFord Touch to ever become user friendly and bug free.

You're right! I drive a Ford F150 today, and love it, but I won't buy anything with Microsoft crap in it.

U.I. Rule number one: If it fascinates a Techno-Geek, you probably do not want it to be the center piece of your newest car design.
Need to dumb it down for the little ole ladies...

Which results and percentage are you looking at? According to the link the IQS chart shows Cadilllac had 80 problems/100 vehicles and Ford had 118 problems/100 vehicles.

If the people trying to use the MyTouch cannot operate a cell phone it may fail. But voice recognition would need determine what the driver means by " what a piece of $#;+. " Siri might.

It should have already been sent through the mail free on a USB drive for automatic installation. Contact your dealership if you didn't get it and need assistance. Or you might be able to download it to a USB thumb drive and install it yourself - http://bit.ly/PD6vm9 for details.

I have no issues with the MyTouch. It is a generational issue. People raised and who adapt to technology will have no issues with it. It is meant for that kind of crowd, not grandma or older adults.

I can't say for sure about "MyTouch", because I have the "Sync" system in my MKX. I'm in my 50's, but I am a design engineer with years of experience designing and debugging communications gear. Sync and MyTouch are not complicated to me. I know what bugs are and I've seen them with the Sync system. Also, part of the problem has been bringing the dealer mechanics up to date with those systems. I think the dealers need a tech specialist. When I bought my MKX I was able to pair my phone to the blue tooth, but it didn't let me download the phonebook from my phone to Sync. It was one of those things that worked sometimes. When I took it to the dealer to show what I did wrong they worked on the issue for about an hour as I waited. Then they asked to keep it for the day. When I came back the system worked worse than before. I couldn't dial out, but I could receive calls. They ended up keep the car for a couple of days then told me they need to replace the hardware module. It took 5 months for them to get everything working properly. I love the system when it works and now it does except for certain things that I expect will never work properly. For example, the voice recognition doesn't work very well. It doesn't have a way to train itself to my voice. So I say "phone ... call Dad" it says "calling Bob". Then I have to hang up before the call goes through. It is to the point I just don't use the voice recognition. I can give you other examples.
