In addition to Mark Thompson, the New York Times (NYT) has approached Akamai (AKAM) CEO Paul Sagan and ex-WSJ publisher L. Gordon Crovitz about its CEO vacancy, sources tell Bloomberg. It's added Sagan is out of the running, and that Google's (GOOG) Eric Schmidt has been discussed internally. The Times, which is seeing print revenues decline and online subscriptions surge, reportedly wants a tech-savvy exec. But chairman Arthur Sulzberger's power could discourage some candidates.
