Cowen's Doug Creutz comes at Disney's (DIS) new Pixar movie Brave from a different direction, noting that despite its strong opening weekend the movie marks the 2nd consecutive Pixar feature to draw shaky critical reviews. The analyst says that with Disney on the hook for $7.4B to buy the creative spark at Pixar, results need to be consistently high to ensure a long-term return on the mega-investment.

. . . or maybe the kiddies should read the reviews. If they understand what 'in the know' critics have to say, they will come to a more reasoned decision about what is worth watching . . . or buying toys of . . . or buying/renting videos of . . . or buying books about . . . or going to sequels of . . .

It would seem that the bottom line continues to laugh at the reviews.

Financial analysts probably should stick to their core competencies. If they start talking about artistic implications or eyeballs, run the other way

Besides, this is one of the few wholesome and positively messaged movies. It is not just about girl power but about family dynamics and transformations. It touches the core to make people wanting to watch it more than once

How else do you explain why people take their kids to expensive baseball games

$DIS has gotten a dozen blockbusters from Pixar and counting. If it is forgiven for John Carter, Pixar and Marvel certainly is worthy of their price tag
