Brazil reportedly is considering canceling some mineral rights in areas considered "strategic" and compensating companies for prospecting work done on those claims, which could affect VALE, BHP, AAUKY.PK and others with mining operations in the country. Large iron ore deposits not yet leased also could be set aside as strategic and held for special auctions.
