Qualcomm (QCOM) announces a restructure in which it will form a new unit called Qualcomm Technologies (QTI), which will run the group's R&D ops, and its product and services businesses, including its semiconductor arm. The parent will run the licensing division and corporate functions, and manage most of the firm's patent portfolio. (PR)

    Is this then a tax free spin-off? When will it take place? What is the split? How many shares for each share of QCOM?

    They've already tried this once. It was headed by a real abrasive person by the name of Heinzinger. In its reincarnation, it might be a good idea, as long as the management is changed from before.
