Microsoft (MSFT) has big plans for its recently-announced Xbox Music service, Bloomberg reports. Steve Ballmer & co. plan to offer both a Spotify-like subsription streaming service and iTunes-like downloads and cloud storage, while providing access via the Xbox, PCs, and Windows Phone devices. It was already released, a long time ago, It's called Zune-Pass.
10$/month you can download all the music you want and play it on up to 4 devices, including the xbox, windows phone and of course PCs. you can also stream music from any web browser (and that's not limited to the 4 devices).
not sure what the difference will be other than re-branding but anyone writing on Microsoft should know this already

I think due to Zune having a lot of restrictions with some of the more popular musicians. Now I believe Microsoft is working on much larger contracts to provide a better range that can compete with Itunes and not have the bad branding of Zune (despite my love affair with zune).

Why did Zune become a "bad branding"? I love it.

I love Zune myself, but it is related to failure. Outside of the niche crowd that loves the Zune and its marketplace Zune was a total flop and it has the sales to prove it.

I think MSFT may want to take a step away from Zune to remove that connection. Or maybe they will push it more with ads this time and sell it better. Fall releases here we come
