Bob Mansfield, Apple's (AAPL) senior VP of hardware engineering, is retiring. Mansfield has been in charge of Mac hardware since 2005, iPhone and iPod hardware since 2010, and iPad hardware from the start. Dan Riccio, Apple's VP of iPad hardware engineering, will be taking over Mansfield's role in the coming months. Apple has also disclosed corporate controller Betsy Rafael will retire in October. EMEA chief Pascal Cagni resigned in May.

    These guys watched Steve Jobs die, and that would make anyone at Apple close to retirement think very hard about getting to their "Bucket List". They now have the money, so the next question becomes "When am I going to get the time?" Families ask profound questions at the dinner table, too.
