The administration rolls out a $2.3B tax credit for clean energy, to create "the jobs of the future, jobs that pay well and can't be outsourced." The credits are going to 183 projects, benefiting companies including PPG Industries (PPG), TPI Composites and Itron (ITRI). (ETFs: GRN, PZD)

From this article: "The jobs numbers that were released by the Labor Department this morning are a reminder that the road to recovery is never straight," Obama said.

Yes it is..it's straight down with an additional 589k less Americans with a job in December.

Sigh...doom and gloomers. Do they ever stop?

And today they get a data point that's for once in their favor. I know they all had one giant orgasm when that NFP # came out. And I love how each one posts up a different crazy number for job losses (589k, 800k, 1 million?) I don't even care where the numbers come from (whether it's taking the seasonally unadjusted numbers or their as*s)

Anyway, one data point does not a trend make and does not a trend break. And the trend is continuing improvement in the economy.

Enjoy losing money and blaming conspiracy theories, secret cabals and PPT for your losses.

    peace

One piece of data? Lets look at the long term trend from dec 2008 to 2009....

    Dec 2008:
6.6 million people were unemployed 14 weeks or less
4.3 million people were unemployed 15 weeks or more
    Total: 10.9 Million

    Dec 2009:
6.2 million people were unemployed 14 weeks or less
8.5 million people were unemployed 15 weeks or more
Total: 14.7 Million (or a 74% increase over Dec 2008)
    (from BLS Table A-9)

In the last 2 months over 1 million have given up looking for work and are no longer looking (N.I.L.F.). the labor force has shrunk by over 1.5 million.

Look at the growth of the long term unemployed....a doubling...please tell me where there has been ANY positive jobs numbers this year? Please don't say november since the continued N.I.L.F rise every month removes a percentage of the unemployed previously counted.

Can someone explain to me how (PPG) and (ITRI) are green jobs creators? Or job creators of any type for that matter, considering the past records:

"PPG Industries could slash its work force by as many as 4,500 employees because of a severe drop in demand for the products it sells to automakers and the home building industry, Chairman Charles Bunch said..."

"..Itron Inc. appears to have regained its confidence, but not its profitability-yet.
"The Spokane-based maker of meter-reading equipment for the utility industry has suffered financial losses, layoffs, and unmet expectations over the last couple of years, but now is saying it could return to profitability this year (2009 - it did not, it lost more)..."

All I can say, and I never tend to agree with Machiavelli999, is that this is a lot better than giving the money to ACORN green or not.
