Sprint (S), Telecom Italia (TI), and others have joined the ranks of carriers supporting Mozilla's Firefox OS (formerly called Boot 2 Gecko) Telefonica (TEF) and Deutsche Telekom (DTEGY.PK) are already on board, and China's ZTE and TCL say they'll release Firefox phones running on Qualcomm (QCOM) Snapdragon processors in Q1 2013. SA's Dana Blankenhorn thinks the carriers are motivated by the possibility of having an open-source OS they can fully control.
