The U.S. has quietly moved significant military reinforcements into the Persian Gulf as both deterrence against Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz and for a possible strike against the country should tensions about its nuclear program escalate. "The message to Iran is, 'Don't even think about it,'" says a DoD official. WTI crude +3.3% to $86.51, taking out its Friday high.

Probably b/c the U.S. intervention will stop the oil hold out there, which will decrease supply and increase the price of oil.

"The message to Iran is, 'Don't even think about it,'" says a DoD official."

Believe me, they're doing more than just "thinking about it."

Meantime, Reuters is reporting that "unnamed sourcepeople in the Obama administration are talking of convening a 'security summit,' probably this October in Copenhagen, Paris or Rio (depending on the weather and if the summit can be shoehorned in between other summits scheduled for the G-8, G-20, G127 and the global-warming meetings). A spokesperson was quoted as saying 'we don't intend to take the Iranian threat lying down. We have a committee ironing out the details and we intend to lead strongly from behind.'"

They once stormed our embassy, and that's the equivalent of war declaration.

We still haven't paid back that yet, but we will.

Saddam, Osama, Gaddafi, we are working down the list.

Ever looked back in history a little further than that?

If someone had played a part in overthrowing an elected leader in your country and then imposed an oppressive shah in their place I'd think you'd probably agree storming their embassy was acceptable too.

Then again, for the sake of this discussion you may not...

Either way, you can't honestly be surprised that when you mess with peoples' countries that they'll turn around and not be all that favourable to you afterwards.

Most people could care less about market positions and the price of oil. Its all about food and energy prices retail. those prices seem to be most driven by Brent and not WTI.

Our pilots have been taking flying training exercises in the Gulf area for the past months. They are ready.

Quick short surgical strike targeting Iran's leaders, patterned after the famous Persian "Assassins" sect--now there's irony! Bang for our military buck before Iran gets the nuke then they'll be worst than North Korea. Don't worry doves--the chances of the above happening, besides being technically illegal under US law, is nearly zero. But the world would be better off with such a declaration of the "Obama Doctrine" (take out nuke wannabe countries before they hatch).

If anyone did that to the US do you think the US would suddenly start having a sensible government or would it become another example of with us or against us stupidity?

If you mess with other peoples' governments it will only make their population reject everything you have to say.
