Air India still hasn't taken delivery of its first Boeing (BA) 787 plane, the Charleston Regional Business Journal reports, even though the carrier was supposed to receive the Dreamliner in June. The Indian government said in May that Air India won't accept the jet until Boeing agrees on compensation upwards of $500M for the delays to the aircraft.

The first South Carolina-built Boeing 787 is close to delivery to Air India. Sounds like all the petty Union and Obama NLRB delays fighting the SC plant may have impacted the overall delivery schedule. So much for politics messing with the aircraft industry...

India can't afford to pay for new airplanes. Boeing can sell the delivery slot to someone else. No big deal for Boeing.

Don't bother selling to india, they will flip the planes for a profit. I think they are still using dc-3 there.

Was Air India one of the companies borrowing low rate US taxpayer subsidized $ for this sale? Maybe some podicide (the art of shooting ones self in the foot) here.
