Canada will allow Target (TGT +1.2%) to sell books along with other cultural items in its stores in the nation after the company's line of products passed muster with the Minister of Canadian Heritage. U.S. retailers are battling it out in Canada, with Target and Wal-Mart leading the charge.

    Meantime, the Guiness people have confirmed yet again that the world's smallest book this year is the Encyclopedia of Canadian Culture. The book would be less than 12 pages were it not for an 11-page essay by the Minister of Canadian Heritage.
