S&P Dow Jones Indices adds 14 stocks to its "Dividend Aristocrat" list after reducing to 20...

S&P Dow Jones Indices adds 14 stocks to its "Dividend Aristocrat" list after reducing to 20 from 25 the number of consecutive years a member must have increased their regular payout. Among those added are Chevron (CVX), General Dynamics (GD), and Avon (AVP). Tracking the index is SDY, +2.7% YTD and yielding 3.24%.

    Lowering the bar to include more...sounds eerily like no child left behind. Looks like the spirit of the list has been diluted by the letter of the list. Good thing most of us rely on the CCC list instead.

    $DVY far better having outperformed (+4.5% ytd) and with a higher yield of 3.46%.

    Totally agree with DividendGarden. That's like lowering the IQ requirement for stock analysts; and look what happened to them!
