Staples (SPLS -1.1%) plans to ride hot tech products such as the Google Nexus tablet and Windows 8 products to a back-to-school sales surge. In order to get bodies in its stores to stoke up tech buying, the company is running deals on glue and crayons for as low as a penny. Though the retailer - along with rivals OfficeMax and Office Depot - calls today the start of the back-to-school season, it's unclear if consumers are willing to play ball this early.
