In the face of an uncertain political and regulatory environment after the apparent demise of Obama's proposals, companies in the health industry likely will cut costs and seek merger opportunities. Among those possibly looking to scoop up smaller rivals: WellPoint (WLP), Community Health Systems (CYH) and LifePoint Hospitals (LPNT).

Millions have lost coverage due to unemployment. The government put the cart before the horse. When employment picks up and the social agencies are less overwhelmed with the needy, the number of uninsured will drop and then we can concentrate on the 'hard' cases. We have a community free clinic to help the uninsured with their medications because the drug companies give them free and discounted drugs. But with this level of unemployment, it's not enough.
