More on AMD's Q2: Results largely in-line with lowered guidance. The chipmaker expects Q3 growth of -4% to +2% Q/Q, below Street expectations of +6%, and Intel's guidance for 2%-10% growth. CPU division sales -13% Q/Q, primarily due to a lower ASP. Graphics division -5% with a flat ASP. Gross margin was flat Q/Q at 46%, expected to fall to 44% in Q3. Inventories rose $248M Q/Q to $833M due to lower sales. AMD -3.1% AH. (PR) (CFO comments - PDF)

AMD appears to be a basket case, existing only because of the FTC

Intel also has reduced earnings forecast. Your point sir?
Sales are down as of recent, as a result of the economy and sales across the board. If you would research a little you would see this trend reflected across the board in tech stocks.
Do you have further incite? If so, could I ask what, and from where?
Or is you brief statement just a random comment which is totally baseless and without knowledge nor merit? Which I suspect is the case. If this is in fact the case , might I suggest keeping your oral aperture tightly closed to avoid the appearance of ignorance.

These guys were scrambling, wish they could just level with shareholders instead. RR is in over his head, I'm sorry to say.

Such a huge inventory increase can only lead to writedowns in the future.

Why are we still going to be talking about Llano in 2013 again?

And how do you cut 8% SG&A late in the quarter exactly? I'd really like to know. They also had a good royalty revenue quarter - how much more than normal?

Seems to me that if they take the write down on inventory this quarter, have a normal royalty run rate quarter and expenses similar to Q1, AMD would have lost significant money.

We should not be comparing intel and amd, they are not in the same galaxy, I'm sad to say.
