Amazon (AMZN) plans to introduce up to 5 or 6 tablet SKUs, including one for a 10" model, claims Staples' U.S. retail chief. The different SKUs could represent unique tablet models, or simply versions of the same tablet that differ slightly. Rumors about new Kindle Fire models have been pouring in (I, II, III), though they haven't stopped sales estimates from getting cut due to competitive fears and reports of share loss. Lab126, the Amazon unit responsible for the Fire, has been hiring aggressively.

Or, as someone else pointed out, these "rumors" could be timed to distract investors from an upcoming bad earning report.

186 times earnings is absurd! Doesn't anyone remember the 2000/2001 dot.com bubble? Yes, Amazon has a viable business model unlike many of the companies that failed, but the lesson learned from that period 11 years ago was that valuations matter.

Amazon would have to be growing earnings at 300% for that P/E ratio to make sense at this point in time. I checked the financials and there EPS has dropped from $0.44 to $0.28.
