Lloyds (LYG) reports an unexpected H1 net loss of £641M, narrowing from a loss of £2.28B in the year-earlier period. Analysts had expected a £314M profit, but Lloyds had to set aside an extra £700M during the period to compensate customers for mis-sold PPI policies.
