D.R. Horton (DHI -3%) slides on a cautious outlook, even after reporting a solid FQ3. Net earnings soared as the home builder booked a reversal of a tax-asset write-down it took during the housing crisis, along with higher closings and a 25% uptick in new orders. The write-down reversal is encouraging - especially now with the stock running back in the black - as builders had been forced to write down the value of billions of dollars of potential offsets to future income taxes during the depths of the downturn.
