More on MetLife (MET): Q2 beats on the bottom line but misses on revenue. Net earnings more than doubled as the life insurer reported a $1.4B gain from derivatives, and a 36% increase in variable investment income. Operating profit also improved modestly, to $1.33 per share from $1.13.
