Cisco (CSCO) is adding (CRM) CEO Mark Benioff to its board. Also joining is Kristina Johnson, a former Under Secretary of Energy for the DOE. The additions boost the size of Cisco's board to a relatively large 14. CEO John Chambers has been criticized in the past for hand-picking loyal board members in order to maintain his grip on power. The only thing Mr.Boring(Chambers) should be doing is resigning.

If he were only boring that'd be a good thing. He acts so "regally" while we peasants (shareholders) have to tolerate not only his arrogant attitude, but also his incompetence. You are correct thgilnoom - Resignation is the correct thing for Mr. Chambers to do for CSCO and its shareholders.

A CEO with a history of hand picking board members that bolster his power position? I'm SHOCKED! There is a very easy way to fix this. All board members must resign within two years of the departure of the CEO who was at the helm when they were appointed, and no CEO nor any board member can exercise any stock options until three years after their departure from the company. Playing fast and loose, AND playing for immediate power would end tomorrow. Furthermore, board appointments would be made with an entirely different mindset.
