A plan by Wendy's (WEN +2.2%) to turn itself around is starting to bear fruit as pricier menu items helped drive up same-store sales by 3%. In the next phase, the company will invest in remodeling more of its restaurants after Q2 showed a nice boost for stores that already had a makeover. (Earlier: earnings)

MCD has only been doing this for 2 years now... glad Wendy's finally caught up. I have yet to eat in a 'nice' Wendy's... and I love me a baconator

I've been to some really shady Wendy's around the US. Food is great though (on a fast food scale, of course).

Yep food is pretty good, the upkeep and workers are real shady in general. And the floors are almost always dirty. The last one I was in was carpeted and you could see like week old food stuck in the carpet lol.... needless to say I've been on a wendy's hiatus for a few months since.

    Let see:
    1. Frosty up 30% for same content
    2. Plain baked potatoes up from $0.99 to $1.29 or 30%
    3. Same deal as #2 for Monterrey Ranch Crispy Chicken

    And still.
    1. Hiring cluless teenagers who give a crap about customer service
    2. 1 cash register manned (usually) which is the rate determining factor on the number of customers you can serve
    3. Preferential treatment (because they measure time) for drive-thru customers vs. walk in customers.
    4. Still have many restaurants where not lobby soda fountain so you have to stand in line for a refill (free of course) and waste the cashier's time.
    5. When you get said refill, they don't take your "dirty" cup (probably a good thing) and give you a new one (more paper cost) vs. the lobby machine.
    6. As in many "restaurants" they keep the temp in the dining area too cold (set to keep workers comfortable not customers)
    7. They run out of baked potatoes because they don't want to have waste, so they risk the loss of a $1.29 sale and about (I'm guessing) 90 cents margin for the sake of throwing a 30 cent potato away?

I could go on and on. I could turn around Wendy's in 6 months !

The food is good and I like the new items but the stores and in a back need of a make over. The employees don't care. I hope Wendy's does get their act together as I am a stock holder.

I remember years ago (25yrs) Wendys had a store in my town in the UK as did McD's but Wendys burgers were SQ and were miles better than McD's patties yuk.
Are they still SQ lol ?. Have not seen a Wendys store for years in the UK :-(, and Wimpys missed the boat lol.
