J.C. Penney (JCP) says it will shift its advertising focus back to newspapers. After going dark following the abrupt departure of marketing exec Michael Francis, the retailer plans 30 newspaper inserts for the remainder of the year, compared to the 11 newspaper campaigns it ran during the spring season when the highly-regarded Francis helped map strategy.
