At an average daily rate of 3.32B shares, trading volume this month is the lowest since December 2007. Yes, it's August, but the trend of declining volume has been in place for some time. Also, don't forget the spike in volume last August thanks to a string of some of the most volatile days ever.

Perhaps that continually declining volumes is an indication that many investors think equities are overvalued and simply are not wiling to buy at higher prices.

What is really important here is to see who is responsible for even the low volume. Seems foreign buying is 80% of the current buys. US boomers are taking advantage to get out ! This is telling and showing the lack of confidence the US folks have. Could it be the fact folks see 4 more years of the same administration and Capital gain taxes rising ?
