Goldman Sachs (GS) shuts down its Hudson Street Services unit - its attempt to sell research from independent analysts to institutional clients - after finding fund managers had little interest. Independent research was supposed to be the next big thing after the dot-com era fallout exposed some of the dirtier secrets of the sell-side at investment banks.
