Japanese car makers face a sales cliff once the state subsidies that have driven revenues this year end. Sales jumped 53% from January-July but are expected to fall 20% in the next quarter. Toyota (TM) and Honda (HMC) hope new models will maintain demand, while Nissan plans to offer support to dealers.
