Sandstorm Gold (SAND), newly listed on the NYSE today, may warrant more attention than the typical junior miner making the jump up. President and CEO Nolan Watson had been CFO of Silver Wheaton (SLW), where he “helped raise over $1B in debt and equity to fund Silver Wheaton’s growth to a $5B market capitalization in less than five years.”

  • Sandstorm Gold is not a junior miner. It should be classified as a royalty company.

  • They take on none of the exploration and production risk and pay for a set percentage of the production to resell at a higher price.

  • Let's hope Mr.. Watson can lead this gold royalty company to the same success as his results with the silver one, SLW. I go in with a decent number of shares pre-reverse split in anticipation of this NYSE listing. Not sorry yet!!

  • The old symbol was SNDXF. The new symbol is SAND. Essentially they lend money to gold miners in return for a piece of the of the stream of mined gold.

  • An interesting stock and maybe the right stock but I think the wrong time to go long. If there comes a hot autumn with pressure on the gold price the broad move will drag down SAND too.

  • Nobody can know what's going to happen in the short term. Long-term, Nolan Watson is certainly going to continue to add more deals with mines to SAND's portfolio as in SLW. I'm betting my shares (bought before the 1:5 reverse split) that the results over a period of years will be appreciation.
