Obama is using his cronies at the EPA to destroy the coal industry, as he promised to do during his 2008 campaign - that's one promise he kept.

Since when did being Republican mean being against our birthright of clean land, air and water and being for polluters?

and destroying american wealth. And sending tax-payers money to his friends to family to build solar scam. 16 of those companies filed bankruptcy where he put tax-payers money. I regret voting for him.

Yeah the Bush depression right? You mean the one where in his first 46 months in office unemployment never went above 6%? Or the fact that he INHERITED a dot-com bust from slick Willie, his predecessor? Or the Bush who tried multiple times to slow down/stop the insane mortgage lending but was shutdown by Barney Frank & Chris Dodd? Or the Bush who created more jobs in 8 years than Clinton & Obama combined did in 12 years? Let's not forget the issues Bush had to deal with:
    1. 9/11
    2. Dot. com bust
    3. Katrina
    4. Full job-killing effects of NAFTA which Clinton signed into law.

It's so easy to keep repeating the mantra, "Did I mention I inherited the worst economy since the Great Depression?". It seems to me our fearless leader needs to emulate Pres Reagan a bit more who never seemed to complain about the mess he inherited from Jimmy Carter. This President is juvenile, immature, and unqualified to lead. Just watch his body language when he meets with Prime Minister Netanyahu. He is like a child being called to the Principal's office after being caught cheating. What a fraud and charlatan he is. You people who re-elect him deserve everything you get. Idiots!

The liberal lamestream media isn't reporting the complete failure of Obama's "green" policies and the numerous bankruptcies of solar companies that he fast-tracked billions in taxpayer funds into in return for campaign kick-back donations.

Solyndra is just one instance of many of Obama funneling taxpayer dollars to his cronies.

Since the only profitable media left is Fox, I wonder what media you are referring to? I agree Fox is a political party mouthpiece and not media.

He may be our most accomplished president, I'm convinced he intended from the start to destroy our economy. Now there are comments in newspapers from those who want to give him another chance. Money comes and goes but freedom will be hard to regain.

He can't destroy what the Bush Depression already collapsed: under Bush every bank failed, every investment bank failed, all real estate collapsed and on and on.

true enough. Our President is the most arrogant, narcissistic leader we have ever seen in the White House. But not stopping there his administration is in all likelihood the most CORRUPT administration since Nixon. Just part of his problem is a total lack of "real world" job experience. Let's face it, community organizing and political posts do not qualify you in any way to be the Leader of the Free World. He is in way over his head. Unfortunately, the mass media in their abject failure to disclose his shortcoming has actively aided and abetted his re-election campaign. The only thing missing is the "pom-poms". We will not survive as a country with another term for this misguided activist. He has to go.

Wow, have you never heard of a guy named G.W.Bush, who got us into two unfunded wars in the middle east with no results? Who, with Hank Paulson, bailed out everyone except Lehman? Who presided over some of the worst accounting scandals in the history of man including Enron and Worldcom?

When are people going to realize that this two party system is just an illusion? Both parties and most politicians with the exception of Ron Paul are cut from the same cloth. It's a vicious circle between D.C. and Wall Street that just ends up sucking money out of the hard working common men and women of America. A Ponzi meant to serve the powerful and wealthy.

Time for some facts and fairness, here.
Obama may be one of our greatest Presidents. He stopped the collapse of the Bush Depression, ended the ruinous Iraq War, he is ending the war in Afghanistan, he has the lowest interest rates in our history, the lowest inflation in a century, he single handedly provided health coverage for millions of uninsured, the Dow completely recovered to near all time highs from the collapse in March09, oh, he GOT Bin Laden, he enabled the collapse of Arab dictatorships, he saved the full, faith and credit of the United States from the most hateful and divisive House since the Civil War, and, best of all, he pisses off white racists everywhere!

trprof, nice stand up act. Don't forget to add: brought the greatest country in the world to the brink of bankruptcy. The brink, you ask? You can take odds that he'll actually achieve the crowning blow while in office.

Amusing, you boasting of government spending as a free lunch. Besides it being done on my back (and most violently, my children's generation), such insanity can only last until it can't. Refer to "Ponzi scheme" (noun).

Natural gas is putting coal out of business. It's not a conspiracy. It's business. Coal is an inferior fuel and phasing it out is the right thing to do. Blame fracking. The same forces would be at work regardless of the political stripes of the moment. I'm in favor of clean air and I vote.

Obama stripped out any power out of EPA to control & regulate NG fracking. Our the F- EPA design rules who is not even selected by people. This is pure violation of democracy and showcase of communism.

Natural gas isn't going to put coal out of business. Even at $3 nat gas we're already near where there will be a switch back to coal. Keep in mind nat gas is low only in North America because of the lack of current LNG export capability, and even without the exports nat gas is rising because producers are shutting in production. The oversupply was driven by the last nat gas price bubble and companies like CHK ended up with leases they had to drill to hold even if they were uneconomic in the near-term.

The real issue is will Obama weaken the US producers enough that they'll become targets for China and others to come in and buy up. If he gets in for another term he may well be successful in turning over our coal assets to Chinese and other foreign firms.

If you look at how Obama handled the Gulf shutdown and weakened the Anglo-American companies that have dominated the Gulf oil & gas production up to now, and turned our Gulf assets into a situation that is ripe for the Chinese to come in and buy up, that's a good model for how he's trying to hand over our coal assets.

The verdict on the EPA rule is great news for all of us that a) have investments in coal, and b) don't have children, nieces, or nephews, and thus don't need to be concerned at all about future generations.

Just look at how China is buying u resources like on Black friday sale or store closing sale. Why on sale, there are enough regulations to stop us from doing anything.

Read the news today as well CHK sale, many are due to regulations. 0.5T lost due to stupid regulations every year.

People can not stay for 5 minutes out of politics........

Fact is king coal is being killed by queen nat gas. Fact is king coal got pissed on the shoes because of China slow down. Fact is that many Americans are sick and tired of mountain top mining in the Appalachians. There are also pollution problems caused by dirty coal that can be fixed by appropriate filters in power plants.

Some food for thought before you all roll together in the mud pulling each others hair out.

Those are facts only if you're fool enough to believe in sub $3 nat gas in North America in perpetuity and parochial enough to be unaware that the rest of the world is ramping coal use.

Coal is great. The America you know and love has been built on the cheap energy that coal-fired generation has given us. Coal will be an immensely valuable resource to current and future generations, whether we burn it directly as a fuel, convert it to liquid or gas fuels, or use it as a feedstock for the chemical, fertilizer, advanced materials, and pharmaceutical industries. It is and will continue to be a valuable resource for a very long time. It remains to be seen how long and how economically shale gas can be extracted. There are 250 billion tons of economically extractable coal in this country, and 9000 billion tons of in ground resource that we can get to if we need it. Coal is a great thing for America.

I agree that homes shouldn't be built within a certain radius of power plants... regardless of whether they are coal/ng/nuclear. All of them have dangers.

But to your point I hear inhaling the methane that leaks out of gas wells is good for you too, gives a killer buzz.
