His growth fund underperforming the S&P 500 by about 2500 basis points YTD, John Hussman sounds frustrated, comparing today's investor confidence and enthusiasm to that of Nasdaq 2000 or housing/debt 2007 (perhaps he's not following the continuing flow of money out of equity funds and into fixed income).

The Big boys are pushing this market higher to get all the late comers to jump on. When the last train leaves the terminal, look out below.

This train has an engineer that is forecasting the future, just as do most markets - A Republican win in November will add 1000 points to the Dow and I believe most of the serious traders are now setting up their plays for this anticipated event.

I somewhat agree with 1234gel, but think his number is a bit high. Obama wins, we go down. Romney wins, we go up.

Nevertheless, we are headed down now for a correction.

no doubt John is suffering through a tough time - but if the YTD number is bad (off 2500 basis points) the trailing 12 month gap is horrific @ 3900 basis points

Hussman is well known for a very conservative if not downright bearish market outlook. He invests with Warren Buffet's first (and second) rules firmly in mind.

I don't agree with his outlook and would not follow his methods. However, it's not fair to judge him on short term performance. Better to see how he does after going all the way through the cycle, maybe twice.
