TSMC (TSM) has achieved 80%+ manufacturing yields for chips made using its cutting-edge 28nm manufacturing process, reports Taiwan's Commercial Times. As a result, TSMC, which has rapidly adding 28nm capacity to a new plant, expects to fully satisfy the 28nm needs of chipmakers such as Qualcomm (QCOM), Nvidia (NVDA), Broadcom (BRCM), and AMD by Q4. TSMC's 28nm supply issues have caused headaches for Qualcomm, and forced it to seek alternatives. (more)
