After four days of fire and 48 deaths, Venezuela's oil minister says he's in no hurry to reopen the Amuay refinery, and will first carry out an extensive inspection. "Because we have all our plants in perfect shape, we have no need to hurry to re-activate," the minister says, but earlier statements have hardly been reliable. Resumption could take weeks if the fire burned through any piping, instruments or pumps.

That was a CYA statement...all is good...I bet he is on the phone now looking to buy oil from some other country...Chavez has destroyed the oil industry there...the parts are breaking and it is being duct taped together..Production keeps falling because of the nepotism involved

Of course equipment has been damaged that is a no brainer - there has been a lot of damage there and it will take months to return to full operation.
