Electronic Arts (EA +1.2%) outperforms after stating it estimates 900K units of Madden NFL 13 were sold in the first 24 hours of availability following its Tuesday North American launch, and that first-day sales for the franchise were up 7% Y/Y. Considering how weak console game sales are right now, those are pretty solid numbers. EA has been hoping a new animation engine would give Madden sales a lift.

New animation engine is great. Killing franchise mode? Stupid. Making 2 player offline impossible? Stupid.
