Apple (AAPL) has sent out invitations for a Sep. 12 event at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. The event, which starts at 1PM ET, is widely expected to feature the release of a new iPhone, with many expecting the device to go on sale 9 days later. Recent reports suggest the iPad Mini won't be announced until October. The teaser image for the Sep. 12 event suggests the next iPhone will be called the iPhone 5.

If Apple hadn't developed the iPhone we'd still think the Motorola Startac was a great device. Apple's iPhone5 will just set the next standard the rest will have to copy.

the jury who heard all the evidence from both sides found that Samsung stole Apples ideas. You heard none of the evidence. Let's see...I think I'll go with the jury.

....And Ottelini is still MIA for the Intel developers forum on Sep 11-13. I 'spect he is going to be on the Apple stage to help stick the final dagger in Samsung by taking the "A" chip business away from them.

In crap won't be doing anything for Apple, Intel is working overtime to get their power hungry Atom chips into mobile they will not be wasting any manufacturing time for Apple.

    Uninformed comment.

Intel's ATOM chip ARM competitors have been proven to be about as powerful and about as power efficient as the competition in devices currently fielding them.

Fact is, x86 runs the full desktop Windows and Apple desktop and other OS, and will be VERY interesting in future iterations of 'mobile' - or what we will likely start calling 'converged' - devices.

INTC will gain market share, the question is how much and how quickly.

Intel will gain market share by bribing second tier companies to take their inferior Atom chips most of them will be in the far east, only the second rank HP, Dell, Lenovo, Samsung will use them.

I am looking forward to Sept 12.
I hold call options on AAPL for Jan13, and cant decide whether to hold past Sept 11 or sell then, prior to the iPhone5 event. Worried if it disappoints there wont be enough time for stock to recover before the option expires.
    Thoughts?

Its going to be a tough call because the 4s was called a disappointment (by so called experts) but sold very well, all of the products, that Apple will introduce this month will best the best in class by far and sellout, however the stock market, and so called tech geek reporter's will not be happy, but the buying public will be and APPL take a circular route to $750 a share.
