Apple (AAPL) reportedly cuts its orders from Samsung (SSNLF.PK) for DRAM and  NAND memory chips for the new iPhone, with beneficiaries including Elpida, Toshiba and SK Hynix. However, Samsung remains the only manufacturer of Apple-designed microchips for the handset, as well as for the iPad. Apple's DRAM and NAND bookings from the Korean giant had been falling before the latest move.

  • Samsung is likely going to stop building chips for Apple, and there will be a shortage of iPhones.

According to many website, up to 25% of an iPhone is produced by Samsung. Apple may also very soon be faced will lawsuits if it brakes any of Samsung TV´s IPR.

This is not clear. I'd like to see what AAPL reports on 9/12 regarding future suppliers and partnerships. My guess is that there will be mobile processor chipset/SoC changes, perhaps not for the iPhone 5 but for future systems.

  • Apple iis moving away from Samsung since they stole Apple's designs. When that happens Samsung will be forced to actually do work on the Galaxy phone.
