Medifast (MED -1.4%) agrees to modify its weight loss claim to avoid a protracted FTC battle. The FTC had launched an investigation over claims its advertising made false assertions about its weight loss potential which were not backed by clinical evidence. MED has agreed to modify its claim from "lose 2-5 lbs. per week." to "lose 2-5 lbs. per week for the first 2 weeks and 1-2 lbs. per week thereafter."
