More on the FOMC: "Without further policy accommodation, economic growth might not be strong enough to generate sustained improvement in labor market conditions." In addition to QE3 and extending the low rate pledge, Operation Twist will continue through the end of the year. Together, the actions are expected to increase the Fed's holdings of longer-term paper by $85B/month through year's end.

    Yep, QE3 is live, an additional $40 bln/month until at least the end of the year. Gold suddenly spikes from a -0.45% to nearly +1% on the news.

    The fed owning long term notes is going to hurt so much when rates go up. 16 trillion at a modest 3% will add another .5 trillion to our debt each year--let alone higher rates-nightmare ala europe time
