Shares of microcap biotech firm Neuralstem (CUR +42%) are soaring today, after it says its neural stem cells were featured as part of a published study in the scientific journal Cell. In the study, paraplegic rats with surgically transected spinal cords recovered significant locomotor function after being transplanted with CUR's spinal cord stem cells. The transplanted cells turned into neurons which grew a "remarkable" number of axons that extended for "very long distances."

A pertinent quote by the late Steve Jobs sums up my opinions about Neuralstem's game-changing potential and provides an equally potent retort to all the foolish naysayers that accused CUR of being overhyped...

"We've never worried about numbers. In the market place, Apple is trying to focus the spotlight on products, because products really make a difference. [...] Ad campaigns are necessary for competition; IBM's ads are everywhere. But good PR educates people; that's all it is. You can't con people in this business. The products speak for themselves."
-- Steve Jobs, Playboy interview, 1985

Neuralstem's research and high level of viable scientific output speak volumes to their market potential. When something looks truly promising people notice. Not such a surprise -- methinks -- or at least it shouldn't be! Good and exciting things still happen all the time -- of this I am certain.

Whether or not people are aware of these positive outcomes is another issue entirely. HTH. Congrats to those who caught this precious little biotech investment early! To the MOON.

It will be interesing to follow. My background is in medical/pharmaceuticals, and I am excited to see what will happen with tailored therapies such as this. I stumbled upon this company and was fortunate enough to snatch it up at $0.75, so I hope the success continues from both a professional and personal standpoint.

I bought some Monday @ ~ .81. Bought twice as much today on the strength of the study cited in CELL. This is a company that looks to have a very bright and promising future. Any better news and I'll have to sell the house to buy more CUR.
