Many companies with strong mobile exposure, including some Apple rivals, are outperforming a day after the iPhone 5 launch. MM +4.2%. VELT +2%. P +3.9%. RIMM +1.6%. NOK +6.4%. QCOM +2%. Is this just a case of sector rotation at work?

  • Well, I am an apple user but lately started to compare the new smartphones as there has been new product launches from all the major players! At the moment I am planning to go to WP8 with Lumia, as it is a technically sound machine! I would hope MS announces some new great MS linkage to the PC MS product line! It would make it an unbeatable business product, which Apple would have difficulties to match!

  • Good choice suhterdp.
Good old NOK is up 10% over the last 2 days, I think the market likes how it stacks up against the iPhone 5.

  • I'm encouraged to see Nokia rallying after the disappointing iPhone 5 annoucement. However, I'd have liked investors to have treated Apple like the did Nokia - lambast the company for releasing an uninspiring product! If Nokia's new device is 'disappointing', then what does that say about the iPhone? Of course, most analysts are fickle enough to be basing their 'disappointed' attitude to no details being released about Nokia's price or availability - but if fair was fair they'd have reapplied their disappointing label to Apple, instead of trying to hang on to any redeeming upgraded features they can find in the new iPhone and give it a 'middling' position.

    Joys of fickle investors!
