Nike (NKE +0.8%), whose shares have taken a beating over its seemingly stubborn refusal to enter the toning shoe market, fights back. A new ad campaign takes a jab at Skechers (SKX -2.5%) & company, saying, This Shoe Works If You Do. But Nike made a similar gaffe in the 80s, and ended up ceding No.1 spot in women's aerobic shoes to Reebok.

Well if everyone that expects to be "taken care of" buys the toning shoes then Nike has blown it..... All those folks with mortgage modifications, strategic defaults, government bureaucrats, politicians, Wall Street bankers, TARP receipiants, AIG fraudsters, and lobbyists plus the teachers unions almost constitute 50% of American voting public..... why wouldn't they be buying shoes that promise to provide something for them without doing any hard work........ I'm surprised the government hasn't endorsed these shoes and set up an agency to determine who is worthy enough to receive them!!

Sorry for being off-topic but I couldn't resist.....
