Intel (INTC) expects its 14nm manufacturing process will be ready for chip production by the end of next year, a timeframe that should let the company maintain a time-to-market edge. It was only this spring that Intel launched its Ivy Bridge CPU line, which leverages an advanced 22nm process. But Intel remains cautious about the speed at which 450mm wafers and EUV lithography will arrive, in spite of a recent $4.1B investment in ASML to accelerate the development of those technologies.
