Life after DVDs: Though the market for DVDs is on life support with digital options proliferating, movie studios might not miss a beat with over 200 cable, satellite, and Internet services now offering post-theatrical movie viewing options. The next wave could see heavyweights players such as CBS, Netflix, Coinstar, Amazon, and Apple start bidding even higher to land exclusive rights to premium content or move in the other direction to invest in their own original programming

Notice no mention of Blue-ray. Blue-ray is dead.

There's still some life in BIG movies' DVD sales, e.g. "Hunger Games". For the rest, they're available on multiple on-line sites, so no one other than the obsessed would want to own them.

Has the music business really "been decimated by MP3 sales" as the article states? That is a direct cause and effect statement I question.

IMO the music industry puts out garbage starting in the early to mid 80's and it only got worse with some exceptions. Taylor Swift would have never made it until she did it on her own. Now some of the stars cannot even sing and there are not great bands with personality and talent which is why the Rolling Stones still rule.

I recognize that delivery has changed and so has profit margins but there is no "must have" artist out there any longer.

Your comment is so true as I search for good music and have trouble finding anything worth buying.
