Intel's (INTC) is interested in developing chip architectures similar to ARM's (ARMH) big.LITTLE, which combines a powerful CPU core with a smaller, low-power core that can handle background tasks. Adopting such an architecture could be crucial to keeping pace with ARM-based solutions in terms of power consumption. Also, Intel execs tell The Inquirer the processors found in its Xeon Phi server accelerator cards could eventually be built into its Xeon CPUs - that could make life more difficult for NVDA's Tesla processors.
