The FCC says it will allow cable companies to buy local telephone companies that operate in their franchise areas. The decision could open the door for the acquisition of small players such as CBEY, TWTC, LBOS, HCOM, or CBB by the bigger fish circling around like Comcast (CMCSA -0.6%) or Time Warner Cable (TWC -0.2%).
