IBM, Expedia (EXPE), Newell Rubbermaid (NWL) and Xcel Energy (XEL) are among firms which sold bonds with coupons at historic lows this week. “Books have been multiple-times oversubscribed,” an analyst says. “It’s not uncommon to have deals five to eight times covered. Given the depth of demand, this is a very benign environment for spreads.”
